I have been involved in Martial Arts for over 20 years. Mark is by far the most knowledgeable instructor I've had. His brain is like a encyclopedia for bjj and judo. His ability to teach the knowledge he has is excellent. You never feel overwhelmed or intimidated in his class. You just wanna learn more and more."

It is one thing to be VERY educated in an aspect of anything in life; but to be able to teach others, and have them believe in you, trust in you, and have them learn that Education themselves in not just a FUN and Safe environment, but also very structured and Results oriented is a very Tangible Asset to have. Steve, is not only an awesome instructor, who has coached and inspired some of britains most skilled olympic and paralympic judo athletes. He is a decent man, who treats everyone in his dojo the same, "he shouts at everyone!" and everyone listens. Judo needs people like Steve Pullen, or it will stop inspiring generations. :-) Every judoka should visit cheadle, Urmston or the uni and experience one of his many classes.

Steve is a great coach and I often travel 120 miles round trip to train at his club at Cheadle. I like his old school ground fighting techniques and he always has useful advice. I have learned a lot of Judo technique and exercises from Steve. He was helpful when I was getting back to training following a broken hand.

Iv trained with Steve alot this year visiting his many clubs
He has clubs open every day of the week ,
He is dedicated and very knowledgeable!.
And always has time for everyone, before the class, in the class and is there afterwards offering advice
I have improved so much under Steve in my time with him, and I know if it wasn't for Steve with his advice and knowledge I wouldn't of won the Cheshire and Manchester 1st kyu open. And I wouldn't have my dan grade.
You just need to see how quick people improve in such a short time this proves how well he's doing

Steve is an amazing instructor and has done a great job making his team and students feel like family. I am glad to join his club at Cheadle due to the fact that Steve has taught me many things other than Judo such as value of respect, confidence, to always do the right things and make the right choices. Hudson has come a long way in his judo training. Since joining judo he has made lots of friends and learned self discipline. Sensei Kevin makes all the differnce cause he focusses on each individual child. Judokaa is not just a club its more like a family.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu takes about twice as long to get a black belt in compared to any other martial art for good reason: BJJ is a refined art that focuses on the absolute subtlties and nuances to ensure complete perfection in technique not just for execution, but for understanding and explanation. It is for this reason that I believe Mark Stan is miles ahead of his peers; he has the ability to teach Judo the way that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructors (like himself) teach their art.
He is patient and articulate. His attention to detail is so precise that it can feel like he reads your mind the way he will break down whatever troubles you with a move and picks it apart with easy to understand but pivotal detail, enabling anyone to not just perform, but truly grasp any technique.
Mark is a busy guy, a family man with a full time job, yet still finds the time to travel out of state and coach his students in tournaments when he can, because he values his club. It's a privilege to train under him and wouldn't have it any other way.

Mark Stan is a great judo player and coach. I admire the fact that as a coach, he still goes out and competes. He looks at each competition as a chance to learn and improve his techniques. I have seen the respect his students show him both on and off the mat. They truly value his teachings. The focus and dedication that he gives to his students makes him a coach that every competitor or martial arts enthusiast should want to train with.

I have been involved in Martial Arts for more than 40 years and rubbed shoulders with some of the best instructors in the world. My years in Judo allowed me to be on the mat with both old world teachers as well as former Olympians. From the first time I watched a class under Mark Stainzewski at Combat Judo, I knew it would be a place I would enjoy training. I found Mark to be very knowledgeable as an instructor and backed that knowledge by being an avid national competitor. His Judo stand-up and Jujitsu ground work are top shelf and it is blatant to see by seeing the success of his students as comptitors. Mark Stan is an asset to the Judo world...

I have been playing Judo since I was 5 years old. I have been competed all over the country and trained with the best of them. Mark is really one of the best Judo instructors in America. There are many Judo teachers who simply do not have the experience to teach this sport. That is not the case for Mark. When you learn Judo from Mark you learn the sport the correct way for competitions, katas, or just to stay in shape. Judo is not a popular sport in the USA and Mark is without a doubt a great (and one of the best) asset to our small Judo community.

We all know the importance of a teacher/instructor in our lives, of our kids and beloved ones. A good teacher/instructor you will remember for the rest of your lives, not only the person but also the teaching you were submited.In addition to teaching judo (Sergio is one of the best in Brazil) he also teaches his students on how to be a better human being.It's admirable to see Sergio's dedication ,discipline and intusiasm with his students, friends and family. Filho do meu querido Guru, primeiro professor de judô da minha vida no Caiçaras na adolescência, Serginho Simon não é apenas a herança genética, física e amorosa do pai tão querido de todos nós que crescemos no clube nos anos 60, 70 e 80. É a evolução, o requinte, a adaptação da técnica e do profissionalismo e, principalmente, a ênfase no que é certo e no que é errado em especializar-se em quaisquer lutas marciais. My name is Ricardo Gomes. I'm a political scientist and teach International Relations and International Political Economy at a private university in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I've known Sergio Simon and his family for over 15 years. Sergio lives and breathes judo ever since he was a young kid, largely because of his father's influence (judo instructor Osvaldo Simon, aka Guru).

This instructor has a great understanding of many martial arts and uses that skill to assure the kids have a great base martial arts program.
I have seen him take a child to a very high level very fast with his understanding of the basis!! I would highly recommend him and his club!!!!!

Conheci o Serginho quando ele ainda era um faixa verde (eu devia ter uns menos de 10 anos e hoje tenho 35!!!) e vi de perto como ele foi cobrado pelo Guru para que se tornasse o exemplo de professor que é hoje. Além do carisma, simplicidade e do conhecimento de Judô, Serginho incorporou na sua pessoa muitos dos ensinamentos que o Judô prega, entre os quais a humildade, simplicidade e a paciência. Não é qualquer um que tem o preparo, paciência e carinho necessários para ensinar à crianças bem pequenas os primeiros golpes de judô, assim como todos os ensinamentos de vida que caracterizam o judô. Um grande professor tem que dar o exemplo e isso ele faz!!! E ele se diverte dando aula para os pequenos como eu me diverti várias vezes vendo essas aulas. Ainda não tenho filhos, mas com certezas serão alunos do Serginho!!!! Abração Serginho, Osssss

Sergio has what it takes to be a master in any art. Judo is lucky to have him, as much as he is to have been trained since early childhood.
What sets him apart is not only his skill, but also his emphasis on the Do, the transmission of moral and social virtues. I look forward to enroll my son in his class as soon as he turns 4.
O Sérgio tem os atributos necessários para ser um mestre em qualquer arte - o Judô tem sorte de tê-lo, tanto quanto ele teve a sorte de ter sido treinado desde a infância.

Sergio Simon is not only a skillful and dedicated judo teacher, but a truly master IN his art, which he carefully and gently passes to his little pupils.
